Normal or Not
Fellow Durango Owners,
I have had my fair share of problems with my Durango. Therefore, I'm checking in with you guys and gals to see if this next characteristic is normal for the Durango or if another problem is starting to show itself. With all of the snow and ice here in Canada, I find the front end tends to grind and grown when the tires slip on the snow and ice. The sound is much worse when turning and seems to plague the front drivers tire more than the passenger. I'm aware traction control can be a cause for these sounds but even even I disable the system the front end still grinds. I'm guessing its somthing to do with the AWD system, but these sound never come from the rear. I've had AWD and 4wd vehicles in the past and the sound and feel has never been this noticeable. On my previous vehicles it was usually a very faint sound with the sensation of the brakes grabbing. The Durango on the other hand is loud. What is everyone else's experience with there traction control system? Is it as noticeable as mine?

Mine hasn't really been utilized yet, as we have no snow or ice, but it does sound like a traction control related sound. The traction control on every car I have owned sounded different on every car.
I'm too far south to have anything slippery at this time of year. However, that is what my last truck (Dodge Ram Megacab) sounded when the antilock/traction control kicked in. It was a fairly loud grinding sound, which was actually the antilock brake unit pulsating.
