Banks Turbo on 2012 Ram 5.7...possible for our 5.7?
Hey guys, been cruising the allpar forum and stumbled across this article regarding the 2012 Lil' Red Express Truck they showed at SEMA this year. Has a Banks Turbo with the 2012 5.7L.

I know there's some differences between the 5.7 thats in our D's and the LX cars and what's in the Rams. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the intake manifold is different to allow for the lower hood clearance and the something about the fuel map being detuned as well? What other if any major differences are there? Is the Bottom end and heads the same? If we had a hood that allowed the clearance, would it be possible to fit a Ram intake manifold on our engines? Is there anything else besides not having a tune available that would prevent this same Banks turbo setup from working on our D's besides trying to find the space in the engine bay for it?

Best bet would be to wait for tuning to come out and then install the Edelbrock E-Force or similar. Thats my plan. Dont hold your breath for anything turbo related to come along unless you can deal with a low mount. And coming from someone who has a custom low mount on an LX, Im betting youll be in double the cash for a proper turbo kit compared to the E-Force/etc.
As for the intake manifold, it looks similar to all the other plastic ones. Everything looks the same to me on the Durango 5.7. With that being said, the 6.1 SRT8 intake manifold will fit...with adapters of course
