Default Automatic headlights shutting off

For the second time my headlights shut off while driving. The first time it wasn't as dark but still should have stayed on. The second time was on the highway, doing 75 mph and absolutely dark out, I could barely see the road in front of me. I don't think I will be using the auto lights anymore. Has this happened with anyone else?

Could be a problem with the switch on the panel or the sensor on the dash. Get that checked out at the dealer ASAP, but for now just use the manual headlight functions.

+1... I would think the sensor is more likely but who knows... have the stealership check it out!

Venom,

I agree with the others that you should have dealer check this as soon as possible. Sounds like a sensor but whatever it is they should be able to get it corrected for you.

You probably want to post your question in the 3rd Gen Ram section.

Venom. I have had 2 2012 new Rams and another I can't remember at the moment with this exact problem recently. The TIPM was the issue on all of them. A module reset made them work for about a day but then the problem returned. Of course we had to do software updates first because if we send a module back on core and it doesn't have the latest software, Chrysler will kick back the claim.

I know the electrical system is a tad different but maybe relaying this to your dealer will move the process faster.
