No. If you have to park close to something, then you should be completely aware that you shouldn't open the hatch, or something might get dented or scratched. If the opportunity presents itself, you could put the seats down and get it out that way. You could also just wait until a better time to remove the stuff from the back, or even park a different way.

Older SUVs didn't have this sensor stuff and nobody ever complained about it. Convenience features are ruining peoples common sense.

No doubt about that. Heck, with all the bells and whistles the car practically drives itself. And now google is working on cars that completely drive themselves.

That's why Google is using computer driven cars, because so many people these days don't have a sliver of common sense. I guess we the people have brought all this safety crap on ourselves.

Im not sure if I accidently hit the button 2x in my pocket or if the htch is opening up on its own. I would say close to 10x since I bought the D a few months ago I have come outside and its open. Not sure if its been open all night or day or what. Good thing I don;t keep valuables in it. Was thinking of having it shut off from the remote.

With the remote key option you have to hit the little button on the chrome piece and then lift the handle to raise the tailgate. If this were a real high-end car the handle would be configured like the front doors and the gate would raise without having to hit that button.

If the D is already 'unlocked' then all you have to do is lift the handle. If the D is locked, then it does take 2 distinct actions to open.
