Default Performance in todays snow storm ?

So my east coast brothers lets hear how you made out in the snow today and
what tires (make/model/size/ etc) and on what vehicle make/model/drivetrain

my nitto NT420S 285/40/22 were HORRIBLE

Low range or standard high range same thing

i didnt expect them to be great, its a very flat and aggressive tread
but i hoped for SOME traction...I got almost none!

any turn i made... i made going sideways like a drift car...

very little grip on pure snow..

rain/slush they were very good - but snow? its should be illegal
to call these "all-seasons" lol

my old goodyear RSA and my trailblazer ss were unstoppable in the snow..
my 2010 maxima (front wheel drive) and good year RSA's are great
my old sumitomo htr+ were Great in snow too on my honda and mitsubishi FWD

i never had a chance to drive in snow with my factory R/T goodyear 20's, wonder how they would have been today..

I just wonder if its all the tires fault? unless someone says with snow tires on
or better all seasons they still had traction issues, I will blame the tires
not the truck...look forward to feedback

Yep its the tires. The biggest factor is by far the tires, although ground clearance comes into play in the deep stuff. In addition to our Durango, I have been driving a V8 RWD sedan around all winter in ice and snow, with no problems because I have great snow tires on the car. In fact, I'd rather drive a RWD vehicle with snow tires in winter weather than an AWD car with all-season tires. I read something to that effect a few years ago in one of the car magazine reviews, but didn't believe it until I experienced it for myself.

Mine came with the Kumho all season tires, and it wasn't too bad (I don't think anyone was going to be able to stop short or make quick turns)...but like everyone else said, a better tire would make is sure footed...so you know what I'll be getting. (Could be a nice way to sell getting 22s )

I wonder if the tire width has something to do with the less than perfect performance in the snow.

Nah its the tread design... Looks fine for water but the snow not so much! I intended to take them off for winter but the 22's just look so damn good!

AMEN! i debated waiting for spring but they were so damn pretty and lonely in
my garage i had to put them on right away!

funny thing is that i kept saying to the sales rep on the
phone that "these tires are going to be horrible in the snow
mayne I should wait for the falkens to come back in stock, the tread
looks better for snow, get something else, or maybe wait for spring.." and he
kept saying "noooo these will be fine, much better than falkens, Nitto spends a ton of money on technogy & research..." haha lol

As I posted in another thread...
Drove in 3 inches...
Then last night driving in 10, AWD works great.

However the Michelin tires SUCK BIG DONKEY DINK!
My GMC Acadia with forteras sucked until I put Bridgestone Duelers on it, once I swapped rubber it was Unstoppable!

So, my take, the D's AWD perfect, the factory rubber, Blows Bigtime!
Michelin has a promise pledge and since my D is a few weeks old I wonder if they would let me swap out tires...

yeah my eagle rsa's on 255/50/20 were really good in snow..

i think the tire width is also playing a part here...
combined with the tires themselves..

anyone know the specs of our awd system (R/T)?
like how its designed, distribution and expected behavior under normal and slippery conditions?

my TBSS had no low range, and although a performance based AWD, it was good in snow
with those 20's i spec'd above..

on my D should i be using low range for street snow driving, and high for highway snow driving (25mph+)?
