Default Rubber Hose on Airbox

Does anyone know what the rubber hose coming out of the left side of the airbox is for. Appears to go into where the oil gets poured into the engine.

Crankcase breather; it allows filtered air into the crankcase and then it's drawn out (along with combustion byproducts) via the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation). Can't have one without the other.

Can that just hang inside the engine bay if i just put a cone filter on and not an entire cold air kit. I just want to remove the top of the air box and put a cone for now. Will that work. Thanks

Sure will, but you have to plug the hole in the airbox.
