Default HP and TQ gains...partially true

So like i had mention in a previous thread that i'm getting CAI and Hypertech. according to the "DYNO"..i should be well above 400 HP and 430 ft/lbs of torque with these specific mods according to their manufacturers....yeah...no.

A few of you guys have these items and an after market exhaust...what is the realistic gains if we were all guessing?

obviously it depends on air temp/humidity/altitude...etc as far as 0-60...

i guess i'm just curious...

Keep in mind where the 'gains' are reported. There is a significant difference between HP at the engine than at the wheels.

Also, rear-wheel HP will measure different than all-wheel HP and there are different levels of drivetrain losses

Also, the claims of "X hp/tq gains" aren't always peak gains, but gains elsewhere in the powerband.

Cool

Illini is right, just because a mod has a dyno claim of 20 hp does NOT mean it is at peak horsepower. More often than not the gain is at a lower rpm. So if you add a CAI (10hp) and a tune (20 hp) and a catback (5 hp) that does NOT mean you now have 395 peak hp. Peak hp may not have changed at all, but hp at 4000 rpm may be increased by 30 hp, and 3000 rpm increased by 5 hp. Or the claimed hp gains may be total BS....
