Default Replacing antenna base

Just took delivery of a '12 Durango and managed to crack the antenna base due to clearance issues in the garage, even with a stubby antenna installed.

Anyone had the pleasure of peeling back the headliner and replacing the antenna base? If so, is it a particularly difficult job?

(Looks like it will be a shark fin after all...but would prefer to get rid of cracked plastic underneath first...)

You dont need to replace that plastic as long as you can get a screw in that base. Just seal up any cracks in it with some rtv so if water gets under shark fin it cant get inside.

Threaded post is still intact...I was able to super-glue the broken section back on the top (took a quarter-sized chunk of plastic off the top of the antenna base and cracked the back side from the fracture down to the rubber gasket at the bottom. I was able to get glue in the vertical crack, too, and kept things taped over for a couple of days to give the glue time to set up.

Looks like one can get the part for $85-100 online...which would take out any question about moisture penetration. I just don't want to get into doing a multi-hour job for something that is likely going to get covered up soon anyway. :P

Thanks for the input...
