I'll admit I may be wrong about the Durango handling relative to other trucks and possibly other full size SUVs. Relative to the R-class handling which is a full size non-truck platform SUV it doesn't compare though and I was spoiled by that.

If you're investing $50k more on an already $50k vette , you're spending $100k. If you have $100k why not just go ZR1?

The supercharger system I mentioned will set you back about $8k. Install & Tune will be probably another $1000. This system puts the LS3 right around 600hp at the flywheel.

Brand New 2013 Corvette Grand Sport - $65k
Supercharger - $8k
Install & Tune - $1k

Total - $74k

New 2013 Z06 (505hp) - $80-$90k

New 2013 ZR1 (638 hp) - $115-$125k

If that is the reality of the cost, I say that's the way to go! As long as what you're spending exceeds the performance of a stock vehicle at equivalent cumulative cost, that's exactly what my point is and that's what makes sense.

I'm not sure you get it! A very small number of people will race there R/T. I'm sure I'll hit the track once or twice but that's not what there talking about. Racing someone with your wife and kids in the car is just plain dumb. So no, were not choosing off people on the street. However the D is a great platform for handling and spirited acceleration which with some mods makes it an enjoyable vehicle. Everyone could use some more passing power just for safety. Not everyone can afford a panamera turbo for a family 4 door but it would surely hand your 98 vette it's ***. And so would my 97 SS. "Want to race for pinks" hehe

Why would a 97 SS beat a 98 Corvette? You're talking about racing a mod'd car vs a non-mod'd that has the exact same engine where are we going with that? You do realize a Panamera Turbo is $175k right? are we trying to have logical discussion or pie in the sky about a car that neither of us have? Let's be civil and keep it pertinent

Missed my point. Even mildly modified my Lt1 SS was walking ls1 vets. I invested $7000 in a $30k car and surprised many a vette owner for an easy $10k less including out handling it. For the $30k the Durango R/T could hang with a panamera turbo. That's a $100k savings by my math, So understand how modification work. If Ross or anyone else wants to get more out of his ride they should. Its your ride and if you want to make it faster even if there is a more cost effective option you should. maybe you just don't like the other options. It's just some $$$ away. Sounds civil to me

I agree - to each their own. I was merely asking a question and it has gotten way out of hand. Enjoy our vehicles for whatever you think it's meant for. Cheers!
