I want to do this mod. Is this the correct part? It says it will not fit 2012 or 2013 Durango's but I think this is the part number I saw in another thread somewhere.

Thanks for any confirmation.

Just a Quick Note to all.

After finally clearing out the garage I came across and noticed a faded marking on the stock thermostat. It reads 205.

Upon this discovery I went ahead and tested the factory stat like I did on the aftermarket unit and sure enough it is a 205 degree unit. Don't know why the markings were so faded. So If anyone pulls a unit off of a 3rd gen and it reads
195. post it up, I was told it was 195 by 2 dodge techs. My 13' was 205 so I am curious if they changed it mid model cycle or the techs didn't know what they were talking about.... Carry on.

Damn 205 that is nuts...if that is indeed true a 195 would improve cooling

How is it that a 10 degree difference us going to make a dramatic difference in cooling? I can see the 180 maybe doing something at least that's a difference if 25 degrees.

I was looking on the Stant website and they have two direct fit thermostats for our gen 3 DD's....a 203 and 190 degree. Both cost around 16 bucks at local autoparts store. Im wondering if our trucks came with two different stats. Cant find any supporting info on web.im putting the 190 in my in the spring.

High horse performance in DE has there own tstat for a Great Price. I called him and he ststed that they get them right from the same company that sells them to JET
I picked one up and its a perfect fit no leaks and its a 180

Dynamic and Static! The stock thermostat is a static unit and doesn't begin to open until 205. Performance or dynamic stats are fully open by the rated temperature. 10-20 degrees is a big difference in computer controlled vehicles with high compression ratios. Remember that the PCMs main concern is to prevent detonation and can pull huge amounts of timing and flood the cyl with fuel at high temps and engine loads.( which kills power and MPG). lowering the overall engine temperature lessens the chance of hitting this threshold and can ward off heat soak. I sat in a drive through today with EVIC showing 88 degrees outside (CA) with the AC on and I was running 192 degrees. Before this mod I was constantly at 220-225 and the car had a crap load of heat soak. This time I pulled out of the drive through and had some fun with a late 80s 911 porshe. He was surprised.

Yo Steve, I have been on the fence to go with either the 180 or 190 stats. I didn't know you already changed yours out, so can you provide me with anything to help persuade me in either direction. All I do know, is I will not be seeing engine temps of 225 this summer like I was last summer.

Just reviewed HPP website: quote for 180 stat:

"In order to take full advantage of your HHP 180 degree thermostat, on applicable vehicles with adjustable fan settings, we recommend the following fan temperature adjustments on your Diablosport tuner. Set All 9 Fan Settings (both Air Condition On and AC Off) to:

All HS (High Speed) Fan Settings to 194 Degrees
All LS (Low Speed) Fan Settings to 189 Degrees
All MS (Med. Speed) Fan Settings to 192 Degrees"
I do not have a programmable tuner at this time, although maybe the dealer would go into the program and change them.
