Default Goodby to all you Durango owners

After 17 months of trouble free ownership of my R/T, I've traded it in for a Grand Caravan R/T. I want to retire for good in three years, so downsizing is part of my strategy to cut costs and pay off everything. The dealer gave me $2,500 difference in my trade and I figure I'll save another $3,000 in fuel, insurance and operating costs. The Caravan R/T has a similar interior in color and equipment so I don't hurt to bad when I drive it. I do love the 24 mpg on the display while I'm driving around town. I'm also getting rid of my 14,000 mile Challenger R/T. So, take care and good luck with your Ds.

I went from three consecutive Caravans (88, 97, 03) to an 05 Durango, and now to a 12 Durango. The vans were OK but keep an eye on the transmission, brakes, and sway bar bushings. I had four major transmission repairs on the 97 and 03, two at low mileage (16k and 33k), front brakes every 30k miles, and sway bar bushings about as often. And that was driving only paved roads and 80% highway. Twice I had to have major brake work done while on vacation. On my 05 Durango, I did rear brakes at 104k and front at 145k miles - and there was still life left in them. I believe the Caravans have completely different trannies now, so maybe not an issue. The Caravans are really light duty, at least the ones I had.
