Default windshield washer pump

Tried searching for a thread on this with no luck but in a nutshell my washer fluid won't spray anymore. I can hear the whirring of the pump and a little fluid comes out but not enough to reach the windshield. I checked the obvious, filled the fluid tank, followed the lines to check for kinks but I'm at a loss as to why this has stopped working. Any ideas?

Disconnect the lines from the sprayers and engage the pump. There should be quite a bit of fluid coming out of both lines. If so then you need to remove and soak your sprayers (20-30 min) in alcohol. use some heavy silicone on the painted portion of the sprayers, this will save the paint from the alcohol.

If you are not getting a solid stream of fluid from the hoses then disconnect them from both sides and use compressed air to clear the lines.

If all this checks out then you have either a leak somewhere inline. (use a separate hose from an auto parts store to bypass and check).

or your pump is faulty. rare though.
good luck.

Default Update

I tested the nozzles with no problems and decided it was time to see the dealer. Turns out the pump went bad. It was still trying to pump and therefore making a buzz (as it always did) but the dealer had to replace the pump to fix the problem. There was no charge for the repair as it was under warranty.
