Default New wheel/tire combo question for RT: 285/50/20

Hey everyone,

Going to be picking up a 2013 Durango RT in the next week or so, and I'm reading up on everything first. I'm new to the forum, and have tried searching for this question and couldn't find anything, so apologies if this was answered in another thread.

I want to immediately get new rims/tires (can't stand the stock ones). I was thinking about doing 20x9's as I don't really want to get 22's. Want something that's a little beefier and more muscular than the stock ones, and was thinking about 285/50/20s for tires all the way around. Has anyone run this setup? Will it fit with out rubbing? I dont want to have to trim the inner fenders. Would I need spacers? Assuming I'll have to get some rims with a high offset, probably 40 or 50, I'm guessing. I want the wheels/tires to stick out a little bit to look aggressive, but not an insane amount.

Also, I thought about getting 275/50/20s, but apparently this is an awkward size, and tires cost twice as much for these as they would for 285/50/20's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

265/50 are a 30.6" tire and 285/50 are a 31.2" and recommend a 9" wheel. I have 20x9" with a 34.5 offset and there is plenty of room for a tire basically 1/4' taller, ok its really .6" but I only count the 50% increase off the center. Kiss using the spare good bye unless you put a 31.2" tire on the full size spare.

Before you can pick a tire, you need to pick the wheel, different offsets will also dictate the size and width of the tire. I say find the wheel you like then figure out the tire. Good luck !

Cool, thanks guys. I'm still debating between wheels. I found some Racelines that are 20x9 with 30mm offset, that I like here: http://www.performanceplustire.com/p...lDataID/179395

Also debating about getting some Forgestars. If I get Forgestars they are made to order, so I can pick whatever offset I want. I would really like wheels that weigh a good amount less than factory.

Mike, I just looked at your setup and it looks really good. Surprised that it's still a 265/50 setup because it looks totally different than stock. Apparently that extra inch of width and extra offset make a world of difference. Good to know that I apparently don't need new tires and/or spacers for the desired look.

Several others here have 20x9 SRT Repro's and they do fill out the wheel well a bit more, the 265/50 does fit the 9" rim a little better with much less sidewall roll.

Not sure on the 30 offset, stock is 35. I'm 34.5 the 22" guys are running 50. Your going about an 1" more inward with 30.

Stock rims have more than a 35 offset.
My SRT8 Reps are 35 offset and with stock tire size they just about get outside the fenders...it was definetely a better look than the tucked in stockers

I've been looking at all black wheels, but I'm also looking at these 20X8.5" SRT "Repro" wheels. They're available with Gloss black/polished combo which sure would look better than the grey stockers.

BUT, they list a 42mm offset. Will that push tires out too far compared to stock?

No if they are a 42 offset that will be in more
The stock wheels have a 50 offset so this will push them out just slightly.
Ok now that vendor is where I got my wheels from. MAKE SURE you tell him to send you DODGE center caps the generic ones he sent me originally didnt fit.
He stands behind his product
Personally I would shoot him an email at
stockwheelsolutions@hotmail.com his name is Cory
I would ask him if he has a set in 20 x 9 with a 35 offset in that color that combined with stock tire size really is a nice fit.
Also make sure if you are buying a second set of sensors you only get the DODGE rubber sensors no aftermarkets they dont work on 13 D's period. You can get them from another vendor on ebay for around $50 for all 4

Thanks Steve--a bit confused as I searched here and read that a 30mm offset would be slightly "in" and that stock was around 35mm offset. I'll drop your guy a line. I was planning on using the stock sensors. Bill
