Default 2012 Durango Won't Start

I'm sitting in my car watching my kid practice football. It was running with the air conditioner on for about 20 minutes. Turned it off. Sat there for an hour in 96 degree heat. When I tried to start the car back up, the brake was locked in place and the ignition button didn't work. No response. I tried using the fob in the ignition. No response. Tried using the fob remotely. Nothing. I left the car, with the key fob for 20 minutes, thinking it might reset. didn't work. The interior lights worked, the message panel worked and the exterior lights all worked.

1 hour and 10 minutes later, I'm on my cell trying to get a ride home. I wasn't touching anything - just sitting there, and the windshield wipers turn on, wipe once, the radio turns on and theres an accessory message on the panel. Sort of like the car "woke up".

This is the second time this has happened. The car goes to the dealership next week. I've already had it there about 5 weeks ago because I couldn't get the car to unlock by touching the handle or with the key fob. When I'd use the key to get in, it would set the alarm off.

Any ideas?

I appreciate the responses. RockyM- I'm suspicious you are correct about the TIPM. Discouraging. I called Chysler and talked with a customer service rep. She gave me a reference number and said she opened a "STAR" case on the car. I asked what that meant and she said it would allow the Service guys at the dealership get more technical help to resolve the problem. I had the car at the dealership this morning. They told me there was a "bulletin" on a software issue and they had to update it. Told me it should take care of it- then he crossed his fingers. I don't feel confident that it's not going to happen again.

Just Got my DD back from shop . Dealer said they found two codes that caused this issue (TSB#18-035-11 , TSB#08-053-11. They installed 4275086AD accordin to them reflashed the pcm and inspected the TIPM. Hopefully its taken care of . Electrical issues always seem to be the worst and annoying ones . If anyone else has this issue run with this info to the dealers shop.

Okay, got stranded again yesterday when it was 102 degrees outside. My Durango goes back to get service tomorrow. I hate this- but I'm probably going to look for a different vehicle. This is the nicest car I've ever owned, but I can't deal with the unreliability and having the car just flat out not start! It took 2 hours for it "unlock" itself and turn on so I could get it home. I'm really disappointed.

I know what you mean. Mine is going in for the 4th time. If not fixed this time I am getting legal involved. Mine starts shuts off and then just cranks and mine is a 2013.

Yep confirmed TipM for me too. But has anyone here got there DD fixed and experiencing thr same issue ? This is a problem with all car manufacturers as they want to have all these electrical equipment on there cars. Gone are the days of simple quick DIY.

Default Citadel Wont Start

I'm having a similar issue but different scenario. We have had very cold temps in Jersey for the last two weeks. I put a new battery in our 2012 Citadel about a week ago and no problems until I used it to jump start another vehicle in our fleet. I got the truck stuck in a little snow right after the jump and it stalled. Since then it wont turn over. Had the TIPM replaced prior to the recall about two years ago, so I don't think its that again. I am thinking that the computer went a foul when I used it to jump the other car. All the power (radio, lights, door locks etc.) seem to operate normal. Does anyone have any input on this? I don't really want to tow it to the dealer for a big $ fix if I can avoid it. Can we reset the computer or try anything else?
