Talking Gibson Axle Back Exhaust

Is anyone on here running it? I am not a big fan of the muffler delete from Mufflex and really don't see the sense in repacing a stainless system with another stainless system such as Magnaflow and Flowmaster. Retaining the factory suitcase should keep the drone down.

If I go with the Gibson I plan on having it welded. Any insight is appreciated!

Thanks

My bud had a Gibson aluminized cat back on his Chevy Avalanche and it rusted out after a 1.5yr. Sounded nice, but he wasn't happy. I would go with stainless steel.

The Gibson I am looking at is stainless. part #616006.

My point in my previous post is that I don't see the sense in overpaying for a stainless sytem when the factory system is already stainless. The magnaflow and flowmaster systems are upcharging for stainless pipe that already exists in your factory sytem. They do this because they don't sell the parts individually such as the resonators and x pipe. Makes good business sense for them as they don't have to carry mutiple parts on hand and can charge a premium for what they offer.

I can get the Gibson 61006 for $300 installed, not bad for stainless and two mufflers.

Not really a bad deal.. even if you only get 2 years for $300, you could replace it 4 times compared the MagnaFlow. I'm not getting enough o/t to even think about getting a system. Post sound clips if you do it, I'd like to hear it.

I'm in Florida. Rusting exhausts, especially stainless, are not an issue. I have owned many vehicles with aluminum and stainless and neither have ever rusted out on me. With that said, I will be using stainless on this as it needs to match the existing pipe to suit my taste.

I ran Gibson on my F150 and loved it. Mine was not particularly loud until you stomped on it and man, did that thing wake up!

Ran it for 4 years with no issue at all and I installed it myself, no welding.

I considered putting a Gibson on my Durango but given that it's technically my employer's Durango, I stopped at a CAI and a swap to all synthetics.

I'll be interested to hear how you like it if you do it.

Just an FYI, the Dynomax SS catback is few hundred cheaper than the other brands.

But if I were looking to go really cheap I'd leave the resonators and replace the suitcase with a pair of high flow mufflers. The resonators will still cut the drone and you'll lose close to 50 lbs by ditching the suitcase.

No updates, still trying to make up my mind. I have been contemplating running a magnaflow x pipe to two mufflers of choice.

Have any of you guys installed the Gibson split rear exhaust (Part-Number #616006) on a Durango Citadel (not R/T) HEMI 5.7l V8? If yes, how's the sound? any videos?
