Default Power Steering Gear Leak

I took my '11 DD Crew into the dealer for a routine oil change yesterday at 37,900 miles and was informed by the service manager that the power steering gear is leaking fluid and should be replaced. He said Chrysler will warranty this (in the $800+) price range and I would need to pay $200 deductible. This is my first significant issue with this vehicle, and of course out of warranty. I am pleased that I won't have to eat the entire cost, but disappointed of this failure. Wondering if any other folks have had this issue with their Durango.

Default Steering Fluid....

I've had to add almost 1 Pint in 2 years. My Durango 2012 V6 has 50k miles. However I have not seen any leaks. Maybe it's collecting in the steering rack boots? Maybe it's evaporating?

Prior to my warranty running out I had to add some fluid and really didn't pay it any mind. Right after the warranty went out I took it in to get an oil change and they told me my rack was leaking and it would not be covered. Of course my ****ty extended warranty wouldn't cover it either. A few weeks ago my water pump busted which was luckily covered under the powertrain warranty. Two days after picking it up from the shop I traded it in!! To may issues for me for a vehicle with 49k miles!!
