Default 17's for winters

Anyone use 17" wheels for winter tires? I'm curious if they would fit.

Not sure what the advantage would be with 17's. However, I just replaced my crappy OEM Michelins at 38000 miles (3 and 4/32nds tread life left among the four tires). With winter on the horizon, these Michelins would be worse than previous winters. I opted for Continental's CrossContact LX20s. So far, so good, but no snow experience to report yet. The tread design looks like it will do the trick, short of running winter treads. My wheel size is 18 inches.

I run a set of 18" aluminum wheels with Blizzaks for winter on my R/T. I don't think a 17" wheels will clear the brakes.

I wasn't sure if the brakes would clear. I want to just spend less on winter tires/rims.

This is kind of a side track, but where are you guys finding srt8 wheels with our bolt pattern?

Just out of curiosity I looked it up on TireRack.com. They recommend 18" wheels for snows. I would think if you are making the leap to have a second set of wheels and tires for winter, the difference between 17" and 18" wheels is the least of your problems.

But I would also say that if I were spending that much coin, I would be tempted to see if I could just put the snow tires on my OEM rims and get new wheels for summer instead. I have the factory 20" wheels and I really prefer the aftermarket stuff that other people here have done.

Well 18's are 1400 for a set, then I can use my oe tires another summer. Then next year I'd put on tires on the oe rims. So that would be cheaper than 20"winters(800 vs 700,17's) and another set of 20/22's, which would end up being closer to 2k.
My wife and I were talking last night and are pushing down the second path as of right now. We both like the srt8 wheels and are thinking if we are going to buy a set of wheels, May as well get the ones we want(like you just said :-) )

That's not bad. About 60$ less than the blizzacks on tire rack
