2012 Durango Doors Unlocking
Something strange with my 2012 D Citadel. I have the Keyless Enter-N-Go entry system. If I shut the vehicle off and while exiting the vehicle I press the lock button on the inside door panel, sometimes I am a couple of steps away from the vehicle and I hear the door locks pop open. I don't understand why it is doing that. If I leave my wife's keyfob in the car and lock the car with the inside door switch, the car beeps 3 times and the doors unlock like they should. But this is with no keyfob in the car and the car does not beep... the locks just pop up. If you don't happen to hear them pop up, you could walk away and leave the car unlocked. I've gotten into the habit of using my keyfob to lock the car as I walk away to prevent the problem. Anyone got any ideas????
These things do a lot of thinking and you may be confusing it. (Why else would an automobile have a 697 page owner's manual?) Your key fob was initially inside when you hit the lock button. Like cih1220 suggested; just close the door, wait a second or two and then press the door lock button from the outside. See if that works. If it does your car is most likely fine.
I always use button on handle as well or the Fob to lock it.
On a not so funny note, the wife left the fob in the center console the other day at the mall. She calls me and sais "when I came out of the mall the car doors were unlocked...why?"
I asked where Fob was she answered " I leave it in the center console!" And to think it was untouched. I have since attached her fob to her main keychain

The key fob must be out of range to the proximity sensor in the center dash for the truck to complete start functions and just outside the vehicle to allow all the smart technology to sense the keys are outside the vehicle to lock, stay locked, and unlock to function properly. I even tried starting my truck once with the fob in the back seat and it failed to sense the key and start, moved it to the front seat and bam started. I too use the door button pretty much all the time and never take the fob out of my pocket.

I don't think the doors are unlocking because it thinks my keyfob is still inside. If I read the manual correctly, it should unlock and beep 3 times when it thinks you may have left it inside. (and that works... I tried it with the 2nd keyfob.. it unlocks and does the 3 beeps) What I am seeing is that it just unlocks with no beeps... sometimes ... not all the time.
