Billet Tech Countdown Sale

The annual BT countdown sale is Tomorrow (Friday). Now, I'm not a huge fan of BT as quality has seemed to decline a bit over the years but I highly recommend that you guys at the very least pick up an oil dipstick during the 40% off sale. The stock yellow plastic piece is a ticking time bomb and will eventually break off, leaving the dipstick stuck inside the tube. And good luck getting it out. The billet piece is far superior, although you do have to watch out when checking/changing oil as it does get really HOT. Installation is as easy as tightening an Allen screw with the included wrench.

Edit: I should also mention that you most likely will NOT receive it before Christmas but YMMV.

I believe the BT stuff is top notch, I have had zero issues with any of it.
This sale is a Great Opprotunity to save on a lot of items if you want them

Catch can has been sitting in my cart ever since they sent the notification last week.

Gqjeff 11-14-2013 03:14 PM

There quality is top notch. Also what else billet wise could u even compare it to for the D? I will be getting every other billet piece I have wanted tomorrow. The catch can is a must have. I have been shocked at how much oil it's been catching.

lhymes 11-14-2013 03:47 PM

Would you consider the catch can a must-buy for the HEMI 2014 Dodge Durango and would it even work on the new model? I've honestly never considered getting one. My Durango is brand new, so if oil does pass through it unintentionally, I guess now would be the best time to get it. Weird that it only says 2011-2012 Durango 5.7L

fishandgrits 11-14-2013 03:58 PM

On a HEMI motor that you plan to keep a while, yes, it's a MUST have. Had one on my RAM, have one on my Charger R/T and now will have one on my Durango.

Just ask someone to show you how much oil vapor it catches, it's crazy.

Yes def must buy for the hemi. I am shocked at how much I have pulled out in 2200 miles. I put mine on at 2k on the odometer and pulled a decent amt in only 400 miles. Did oil change at 2500 miles and now at 4200 miles and poured it out again the other day. Also it will fit 13 and 14's

Does the catch can void warranty work?

lhymes 11-14-2013 06:03 PM

Ok, as long as it won't affect the warranty, I'll definitely get it tomorrow.

The catch can is a very misunderstood thing. If you head over to LXForums, there are many threads on the subject (one of the best here http://www.lxforums.com/board/f164/c...ml#post3163341). The fact is (and not just me saying this, the SRT Engineers also chuckle when its been brought up in discussions) a catch can WILL reduce oil injestion and assist in helping keep the backside of the throttle body butterfly clean. However, engine performance/longevity is not and will never be increased with a "clean" throttle body, nor by removing oil vapor.

Also, the 5.7 and smaller engines have an oil separator (read: catch can) built into the OEM plastic intake manifolds. Anything caught by an aftermarket catch can would simply be caught regardless by the OEM intake manifold/PCV area.

Cliffs notes: Will a catch can hurt anything? Definitely not! Is it necessary? Absolutely not and the Engineers have stated so multiple times.

Its for both Hemi and Pentastar Durangos. I dont think a single thing on that page wouldnt fit a V6 Durango.

No, it wont. It (the BT one) was actually ALMOST brought on as a genuine MOPAR accessory, but for obvious reasons, it was killed.

I see people on here spending more on a v6 than I spent on my R/T. lol

hellomoto_25 11-14-2013 08:25 PM

Thanks magnumrt05

I don't think I'm gonna put any money into this thing for a little while. Reading all the Tipm nightmares has me skidish.

There are a ton of things that will work on your V6. All the fluid covers should work, the fuse box cover, Shifter handles all work, Billet Sill plates work etc etc.

Thanks for that! I was just about to pull the trigger on a catch can (even though I didnt want to). After doing more research it doesn't seen to be necessary at all. It doesn't hurt, but doesn't seem to matter.

FSTDANGO3 11-15-2013 08:25 AM

Rich do yourself a favor and get a catch can. Sorry but these things suck oil at WOT
I only drove mine a 1000 miles and there is some in the can. At 40% off you can get it for $80 or so
STEVE

lhymes 11-15-2013 10:06 AM

Yeah, after doing more readup, I've decided to get one. I plan on keeping my 2014 for as long as possible, so I feel it's worth it.

JustinK. 11-15-2013 12:02 PM

Came close to buying one, but I think I have gone WOT 3-4 times in 4 months and that was after the hypertech having fun. Dont really get on her much any more. Try more to save gas but get on it some to pass. It doesn't take WOT to get around slow pokes!!

I decided to buy a lockpick v.5 instead. I will get a lot of use out of that.

SLAINTE06 11-18-2013 10:23 AM

I have the Lockpick V5 Rich, works great, install pretty straight forward too, let me know if have issues. Good Luck

rvarner 11-18-2013 04:56 PM

So Finn, you installed the Lock Pick yourself?

I will be hitting you up on pointers than. I was going to take it to a stereo shop to install it but if it isn't that bad I will give it a shot. My kids are using the rear entertainment system more and more and it will be easier to control from the front with everything unlocked. I have had to pull over 4-5 times to put in navigation addresses too. That's getting old!

I will shoot you a PM.

FSTDANGO3 11-18-2013 06:29 PM

Rich I have the CHRY2 in my D it does all the same as the V5 but no adding extra cameras
I never stop to set nav and my wife watches videos in front while we drive

Love my catch can! LOL

woblik 11-18-2013 09:35 PM

I ordered a gloss black catch can. I considered gloss black caps, but that was $240 vs the $95 i spent. May do it gradually.

fishandgrits 11-19-2013 07:30 AM

I always go satin with black powder coated threads as I like the stock look and if it gets scratched I won't be disappointed ;)

Installed my catch can today. I removed my engine cover so I could take the shorter route with the hoses.

BT sent me the incorrect fittings but they refunded the cost, so I can deal with it.
