Pentastar squeal at startup
Took my v6 D in for a routine oil change today. I figured as long as I was going in, i should document the squeal that I hear when I start the D on cold mornings, in case something related fails later while out of warranty.
I took a video of it starting up this morning in (10 degree temp in the garage, 0 outside), and sure enough it squealed again. I was pleasantly surprised when the service manager immediately said he's heard it before, and he is pretty sure the water pump should be replaced under warranty. Said he has a minivan with the same motor and same problem, and that's the fix they are trying. Will do mine too if that fixes the other guy's problem.
Anyone else have the squeal? Just curious.

I have the same noise on my V6 my guess was that it's a pulley and not the water pump. They replaced the water pump and I brought it home and it still did the same noise. Needless to say, it's back at service now. I also noticed that when I start it and if I tap the gas after starting it, the engine RPMs will go higher and higher and not stop. I had to turn the truck off. Anyone have this issue?
My current wrangler and a previously owned 1st gen D had developed a light squeal at start up. I switched the serpentine belt around ( inside edge now on outside)and it solved the issue on both vehicles. The wrangler started it after only one month maybe 250 miles on the odo. Same belt with 38k and 8 years later. I always start with the easy stuff you just never know.
