For the last 100+ yrs we also havent had a 350 hp all wheel drive suv. The set8 jeeps were notorious for drivetrain issues. You put that much hp on a all wheel drive vehicle that weighs 5500 lbs, youre gonna rip up something. Now dodge has to compete in the drivetrain warranty market with a 5 yr 100k warranty. Well, if we had all 360 hp that this thing is capable of, the transfer case and tranny wouldnt make it half that warranty period. Even shelby gt500's and other various cars have tm to a point.

Your right... TM was created to cut manufacturer loss and increase the desired warranty period. Before TM manufacturers just designed parts to be stronger with every increase in power and yes we have the most powerful vehicles in history but we also have better built parts with less margin for error and much better lubrication. There is a place for TM but like all things the manufacturers have gone EXTREME just like they did in the 70s when they destroyed performance with there knee jerk reaction to emissions.

I'm really happy with my Hemifever tune and the massively reduce TQ management. It shifts a lot faster and harder when needed and the power is also better (feelingwise) than the Diablo tunes... I also had the MIL coming up with the first Hemifever tune. It was one of the pressure sensors which was crying because with the reduced TQ management we were outside of the allowed specs... We had to reduce it a little bit but now it's good.

So the new hemifever tunes don't throw any cel's?

Apparently you were not here in the 1970s when US Federally-mandated emissions levels were put in place. I was. The automakers' responses were not "knee jerk" but rather the best they could do at the time to meet the government's draconian regulations. There was no PCM or fuel injection to tune then - those would have to be invented to be able to meet the emission and performance expectations we have today. Even if they were on a shelf back then, the consumer would not have stood for an overnight cost increase of 15-30% on a vehicle. Seems like I am reading some revisionist history in the above quote.....

Now let's get the thread back on topic please. This is about the Diablo inTune DCX, not some custom tune.

GotRPM -

Thanks for this post. I too have loved the Diablo Tune and have had it for about 10 months, but I find myself shifting manually almost 100% of the time when driving around town. I don't think I fully understood what was possible with the shift points and will try adjusting the shift points as you did when I get some time this week or next. I will definitely report back.

Like you, I enjoy the 93 "Diablo" tune and have just been cursing the strange gear ratios and shift points in the D.

My experience with the diablosport and my '12 Durango R/T

The 87 octane tune gained me 2/10ths in the quarter mile at the track. You can't set shift points at 6200 or the trans won't shift out of 2nd at WOT. I just tried 6000 for 1-2 and 2-3 and it shifted to 3rd at WOT. Diablosport was aware of this issue but doubt they'll have a fix. Boosting throttle helps with the anemic feels off the starting line. MDS off is nice if you have a loud exhaust as the MDS makes it sound weird.

The Hemifever tune was $125 I think. It threw a cell on steep uphill climbs but he revised it so it won't do that. It wasn't any faster at the track. I went back to 87 octane tune and only thing I noticed was that the shifting seemed a little better with the Hemifever tune. Seems like with canned 87 tune the car wants to upshift at part throttle too quickly.

EDIT: Just went back to Hemifever tune and have to say it is much more refined and driveable. Also for $125 he is very responsive to feedback and will tweak things for you.

Ya I'm interested in the diablo also but the cels bother me. Plus my wife would freak out if a cel showed up. Heck she doesn't even now the interceptor is installed lol. We had a cars warranty voided because of a CAI before so she's def not thrilled with what I have done already

They cant legally void a warranty for a cai unless they can prove it caused damage to the part in question.
