Well I am glad they are doing something about it after only one reported accident and some complaints. Makes the recent GM fiasco seem like the Apocalypse.
Reading the articles on the recall, I wonder how many more cars from all manufactures will be recalled now that DOT are using magnesium-oxide for road salt. I know in CT there is class action law suite from trucking unions and state is recommending everyone get the under body of their cars spray washed. Will be interesting what the shield they want to install will look like
The brake booster is in its own compartment under the hood of the car and pretty well "sealed" at the bottom. The only way I can see water getting in is from the top, run-off water from the cowl panel, rather than road water/salt splashed from the bottom. So, it will be interesting to see what that "shield" design looks like.
My 2013 R/Twas built Sept 13. I went to the recalls page, entered my VIN, and got a pop up that the car needs an ABS module reprogram. Nothing about the booster. I clicked on the pop up to get the PDF notice and instead it took me to the Jeep page.
My 2013 Crew was built October 2012 and I took delivery mid-November 2012. After logging in to the Dodge Owner's Center and entering the VIN #, it returns that there are no recalls for my VIN #. It may be too early or the recall applies to a specific model and/or build date code.
I also noticed that at the main page after login they no longer update the mileage for my next service and I cannot update my current mileage. Maybe something is broken on the site.
