Default 2012 Durango Crew Towing Capacity

I have a 2012 dodge Durango crew with the 3.6 Pentastar engine...it does not have the tow package.

Can anyone tell me what my towing capacity is...I added a hitch and I pull my bass boat but was wondering what the towing limits are without the towing package.

Thanks

David

Should be the same since the aftermarket hitches bolt to the same points in the frame that the factory one does. If hauling long distances however, I would check with the dealer to see if a transmission cooler is part of the tow package for your year model vehicle.

It will be less than the 6200 since you lack the transmission cooler and suspension. Someone will chime in with the math. 3500 or less seems reasonable.

Don't assume. I don't have the tow package but the tranny is still cooled.

And re the suspension, if the rear sags too much without it you can just move the weight back on the trailer to reduce tongue weight.

Reason i say that is because a class iv hitch on the tow group allocates the weight over both axles. Because you only added a hitch afterwards, you are putting it all on one axle (rear). Look up the gross axle weight. That should tell you.
Ummmmm..... What?

This is insane.

Tow group has heavy duty engine and transmission cooling. Also has load leveling suspension. V6 needs this. The v8 hemi has all these without the tow group. Moving weight to the back is extremely dangerous as it leads to swaying.

The manual has a note in there that's says without tow package it's 3500.the tow package does come with the load leveling shocks .
