I occasionally regret that I didn't spring for the V8 in my 2012 crew D.

However, this week I rented a car to drive to Indy for work (about 700 miles round trip) rather than pile the miles on my personal ride.

I ended up with a Camry. Nothing like 12 hours in that thing to make me appreciate the D!

As a side note, would it kill enterprise to clean the dang windows inside the car, an what is with the scratches all of the interiors... have renters no respect for vehicles?

Speaking from having spent many hours in rentals, people just trash them. Can't believe that some folks feel confident buying a 2 year old rental from Budget, Hertz etc.

I hate rental cars. Last one I had smelled like a hotel room inside. Weird...

I had a Camry when the durango was getting worked on. I hated every second in that car. I actually washed the car and wiped down the entire interior right when I got it home.

My other gripe is that i dont understand how someone buys a Camry when there are better choices out there for the same money. Reliability would be my only justification as it historically has a good track record. Other than that it's an appliance.

I got both my kids Camrys. Both over 100k miles and still running strong. They run about $1500-$2000 less than the comparable Honda and are every bit as reliable. Not saying I would drive one....lol

My thought on it is that it was a perfectly rational, logical device to transport people and things, but completely void of character and driving pleasure.

Certainly the low trim level and previous 20,000 miles of rental abuse influenced that opinion.
