Default Underhood lighting DIY

I've been missing the feature of an underhood light within the last 3 Dodge/Jeep productsiI've owned so I decided to do something about it.
I went to Advanced Auto a few weeks ago and found this 26" double led flexible light strip and found a perfect location to mount it on the hood, the only problem was how do Iget it to look stock wired and operate just like a stock light would without drilling any holes in the engine bay along with not putting some kind of dip switch of sorts to operate it. So heres what I came up with.
I used the hood latch pin switch (which doesn't allow you to remote start the car while hood is open) ran that to the relay along passenger side to neg/pos terminal area then ran the negative and positive wires under the hood insulation down the passenger side hood hinge and to relay and power of the terminals. I did put a red fuse with home made fuse holder of 2 spade terminal solderless connectors. Whole thing was 30 minutes and $30

This picture was taken at 10pm with no flash, thus is how bright and clear the led light is under the hood.

Not a lot of detail....that I know of. I posted a pic of it but I don't know if all D have the switch if they did not come with factory remote start. But there's only 2 wires to the switch and I used one of them as the trigger for the relay to give power to the lights.

Nice job, I wanted to do this too, but didn't want a dip switch. Csn you go into more details on the switch/relay setup to help us out?
