2014 RT Issues
The dealer should be keeping in touch with the customer as they are updated when service bulletins are released.
I have never known a dealer that called the customer to tell them that there are updates available for their vehicle. SW updates are usually looked up when a customer takes the vehicle in for some service work, mailed out (occasionally) or if the customer goes online to check using their VIN.
Of course if the customer has enough problems and a friendly relationship with a service writer or service mgr, they may try to keep the customer up too date as TSB's are released.
My '14 R/T has the thumping noise when going over bumpy streets. It has been in the shop since last Thursday and just today (Tuesday) figured out that it was the left rear shock. They had to order it, so that means another trip to shop for me. This sux, the D is under one month old and already in the shop....
For that matter, manufacturers should offer a service where you can update software yourself. Wouldn't be that hard to have the stereo connectable to your home wifi, and have a menu to search for and apply known patches that have not been applied - like Windows does. Not to the stereo itself, to the car. The manufacturer that does this will sell me all my future cars.
I am going to have to take mine in for this. It is very annoying, wife thinks it sounds like the tires are loose.
My issues are still unresolved. I complained on the survey sent out after my first service visit. This time they want me to call Dodge after making an my next appt and they would talk to them to make sure everything is corrected this time and they will talk to them about how much money they are allotted for my Enterprise rental so that I could get something more comparable to what I just purchased. On the positive side of things, I talked another serious buyer out of buying a Dodge Durango today! That makes 3 so far!
I'm getting the same response from Dodge as well. I talked to the dealership who swears that the shock mounts were done last April when I had my rear drivers side shock replaced as it actually began to squeek and clunk just getting into the vehicle. Funny part is they never touched the passenger shock and at no point was there ever a mention of replacing shock mounts. On top of this, I see the TSB came out in July while my Durango went into the shop in April making it unlikely these were changed out. My dealership then tells me to call Dodge not so caring and they then go on to inform me that I need to keep on dealing with the dealership and they support them. The customer care rep also tells me they can't find the above TSB. So here we go again, the merry go round continues. This is sad that this problem persist four years after the introduction of the new Durango. As with Big SAl I have had many people ask about the Durango and they all get the low down on what I think of this POS. Only positive thing left is I have about another year and a half to break even on the financing and then its bye bye Dodge.
Same issues here with rear shocks. We have 2011 durango 2 wheel drive with the standard suspension. It did make it 35,000 miles before the drivers side shock started to to make noise. When we brought it in they did the silicon grease trick to the shock mount, but did say our shocks were bad also and needed to be replaced. It took 3 months to get them in. Now they were replaced at 37,000 miles. At 39,259 both shocks have leaked all the oil out. These are the shocks that end in model # AG the old ones or first gen end in AE. Our dealer has told us that Crysler has got a new shock design but it will be 131 days out before they even get any to the dealers. Currently our vehicle is unsafe to drive. (Shocks are completely blown and bounces down the road.) Dealer has offered to put in the orginal shocks AE's that came with the vehicle that have proven to be defective in. Until the 4th attempt by the factory to find a fix. Or put my wife in a rental car for the next 4 months until the replacements come in. Inot sure im comfortable with either option. For 1 im paying a note for something we cant drive, and I dont believe Chrysler has a fix for it, at least a correct one. I believe that they are just bandaging bad suspension geometry. All 4 model years have this issue. God bless the people that havent had this problem.
