Default Power for ham radio/scanner

Hello - I am planning to install an amateur (ham) transceiver this summer. I have the antenna planned out, am going to put the radio under the drivers seat, and will use a remote head capability. The next thing to figure out is power. I'm hoping that having the battery under the passenger seat will simplify maters greatly, hopefully can just run the power cable there, and then need to tap in to an accessory circuit so the radio is only on when the Durango is. I'll be using a kit that ensures power is cut when the vehicle is off, and turns it back on after starting.

Anyone installed a ham/CB/scanner radio in their Durango that can offer any power suggestions? I know they use the Durango for a police vehicle - so perhaps it already provides a decent place to tap the power? Thanks!

Run the power to the inverter located in the center console, then use the negative from the battery. This is something I have been thinking of doing with my 13 R/T.
