Default 2014 Mysteries

I went from 2011 to a 2014 and can't figure out a couple of things.

1) The hitch is hidden behind a plastic cap. Is that cap for gas mileage? And can it stay on without fear of losing it (it's only go 2 small twisties holding it) while driving?

2) Is there any way to watch downloaded movies from the SD card? It seems to only recognize music files.

3) Can you load pictures into the TFT screen like you could on the earlier model?

4) There doesn't seem to be a lock button on the rear hatch anymore. Is there something I'm missing that allows locking from the rear?

More mysteries to come I'm sure.

Thanks.

I would presume like all other models, movie watching from any type of drives is not allowed unless you get a lockpick, but I also dont know if they have made them for 14's yet. I still have my 12, but be curious too on your other questions, still keeping options opening about upgrading maybe later in the year.

Today DVD movies give you the right to download as well so it's easy to have a copy on an SD card. And then you could have home movies/pictures on an SD card that you want to show on the video system. You can re-live your vacation on the way home.

I have a 2014 r/t so here are your mystery answers.

1. the cover is there for looks and yes it will stay on no problem.

2. No movie watching on the screen without a lockpick. They are out they for the 2014.

3. No Picture downloading hopefully later down the road.

4. The lock button for the hatch is there it is right next to the open on the right hand side of the handle.

hope this helps.

Thanks. All good.

4. I found the lock button now -- very sneaky. Thanks.
3. Seems a shame you can't override the XM logos with your own pics. Heck, they have a button to override it with the map.
2. I don't need to watch a movie while driving -- Adaptive cruise doesn't work that well yet. But I have movies on an SD card that my kids would like to watch in the back. When I put that SD in the slot it doesn't recognize the files.
1. Glad to know that cover won't fall off. I'm still betting it improves laminar air flow for gas mileage.

If that hitch cover improves gas mileage, it would be by about the difference a clean car makes over a dirty one.

You would be surprised how much turbulent air flow exiting the car can create drag. Manufacturers are looking very carefully at this stuff since they have to meet cafe standards. Look at solar powered cars. They don't have pointy tails for looks. They want the lowest drag coefficient possible.

On my 11 I was able to watch DVDs through the player without lockpick. So your saying I cant do that now with the 14? the CD slot is only for CDs not DVDs?

You can, and can on the 14 too, but just not while driving.

No CD slot on 2014. CD player is optional.
