My V6 '12 Crew has -- of course! -- an automatic, but I use the manual mode frequently when in traffic. I'm sure it surprises quite a few people when I can accelerate rapidly in 2nd or 3rd while they're still waiting for their car to downshift.
Anyway, the wife really DOES NOT like it. She complains it makes the engine sound "funny" and she's afraid I'll "explode the transmission." I seldom get over 3500 rpm so its not like I'm red-lining this beast or anything. None the less, she is unhappy.
Anyone else out there fighting the same battle or am I left to endlessly drift on this ocean of domestic misunderstanding?

 

Haha, she would have divorced me after our her first ride in the camaro. I don't remember ever shifting under 3 grand also with no mufflers just the cats and redline pulls are the norm. My girl is still po'ed that the RT isn't near as fast as her Trailblazer SS. Oh well good luck and maybe shift at redline every once in a while to show her who's boss,

 

I put mine to the floor all the time, that's what I bought an R/T for! Tell her it's good to blow the soot out.....

 

Even better...just ignore her and do what you want.

 

Haha. I must be lucky. My wife loves the R/T. Loves the exhaust sounds and loves the beefy noise of a real V8 engine.

In fact, she is adamant that if I get a Challenger, it MUST be a hellcat Challenger after she heard the exhaust of it. Told her I'd be happy with the cheaper 392 Shaker version, but she vetoed that and said it has to be a hellcat.

 

VERY lucky.

 

Yeah, right. Like I don't already spend too much time on the couch. :-)
