Default Loud ping/popping noise when started

Sounds like a loud ping/popping noise when started. Shop thought it had something to do with the oil pan, so they replaced that, no change. Advisor thinks it has something to do with the heat shield on the exhaust expanding. My R/T has been in the shop since Thursday and may not be ready today. My R/T is less than a month old and already having these problems???? I also wanted them to check the back end because when I drive over a bumpy road it sounds like something is loose underneath. They were unable to duplicate this issue. I guarantee it is still there, the POS rental Chrysler 200 doesn't even make those noises over the same road. They just called and said my left rear shock needs to be replaced. I've only had the D for less than a month and have not done any towing, I don't even have the tow package. I had just been doing regular driving, one trip to Houston but that is it. The pinging/popping noise is coming from underneath the car after startup when the engine has cooled. The noise only last until the engine is warm. If the engine is warm, it won't make the noise. Any ideas???

As far as the rear shock noise goes there is a Service Bulletin on that problem. Bulletin #17-002-14. Is say's to install Shock Mounting Bracket Kit (not a shock) part # 68252113AA.

They will find it. It's only the intermittent rattles and sounds that are hard to find. Yours is consistant from your description so up on a lift it goes. I'm sure these issues will get resolved so you can enjoy this beast.

What your describing sounds exactly like what I'm hearing on mine. I thought it was the spare bumping/moving under the truck over bumps.

So what do you do with a TSB? Just take it to the dealer and have this done? Or what? Never had to do one before

The dealer can inspect and verify if this TSB is related your issue. If so and vehicle is under warranty, the repair would be covered under warranty.

My issues are still unresolved. I complained on the survey sent out after my first service visit. This time they want me to call Dodge after making an my next appt and they would talk to them to make sure everything is corrected this time and they will talk to them about how much money they are allotted for my Enterprise rental so that I could get something more comparable to what I just purchased. On the positive side of things, I talked another serious buyer out of buying a Dodge Durango today! That makes 3 so far!

So got the D dropped off at dealership this morning to do that stupid vanity mirror recall and see if they will do the TSB on the 14's rear shock on my 13. That banging is annoying.

Hope to get my exhaust put on this week also, tired of walking around that BIG A box in the garage. Just haven't had time to put it on yet

Took mine to the shop again, last Tuesday. They had a Chrysler Field Engineer there to look at my vehicle. The heard the popping and assume that it is the exhaust but they don't have a fix for it. The thumping over the bumps, they said they could not reproduce. I told them my navigation was terrible and to check to see if there was an update available. They told me they couldn't find anything wrong with my navigation. He said we drove it around and tried everything, we even put over 60 miles on it, testing it out. 60 MILES???? There is no reason that my car should come back to me from the shop with 60 more miles on it. They took my car out for the weekend is what they meant to say. That is complete BS! I told them they can keep that POS until it does not make any of the noises or give me a new one! Talking to the Chrysler rep more today.
