2013 Undercarriage Rust - Maybe I'm Paranoid
So I picked up my Durango from a dealer with 16,000 kms. It was a corporate vehicle and came with a clean Carfax/Carproof and paperwork showing it was a corporate car, not third party.
A few months later, I had it on the hoist at my mechanic's and noticed that the underbody looked a little surface rusty. My mechanic told me he'd seen the same before and we didn't see anything invasive.
Cut to a few months later and my AC dies. Dealer finds that my AC lines are corroded through and are replaced front to back (almost 16hrs of warranty work plus 3 days of a Dodge funded courtesy car). That's an issue that shouldn't present until well into the 100,000 kms ++ range. Dealer says, "You never know until it happens."
Now my paranoid thought:
Did the person who drove it before me decide to go beach surfing with their demo? Maybe they thought they could navigate a flooded road and had to ditch?
I know this would never be reported on a Carfax let alone disclosed by the seller. My worry is, if that were the case, what am I in for in the long haul?
Or maybe I'm just paranoid...
