Default ECO light and MDS

My 2012 D has the 5.7L Hemi engine with MDS. Is there a corrolation between the ECO light and when the MDS kicks in or out? I thought I read somewhere that the ECO light doesn't correspond to when the MDS switches although it seems to somewhat related to when I would expect the MDS to switch.

Also, is it true that when I switch out of Drive to one of the numbers that MDS always switches to all 8 cylinders. I notice that when you kick it out of drive the ECO light goes out and won't come back on until you move back to Drive.

I'm trying to determine if the slight hesitation and stumbling during light acceleration is due to the MDS switching or if I've got a fuel flow problem or electical problem. I read somewhere that might be caused by the Throttle Position Sensor also.

All help appreciated.
