Default Annoying whine / whistle sound while at cruising speed

I have a 2013 Durango Crew AWD with about 25k miles. When going down the highway we hear a sound in the cabin that reminds me of that annoying flute from the move Titanic! If the vehicle is coasting, or otherwise not under load, you don't hear the sound. As soon as there is the smallest amount of acceleration, such as when using cruise control to maintain speed, you can hear it. In an attempt to troubleshoot I set the cruise at 55 to maintain speed, and manually downshifted to increase engine RPM, but the noise is still there, and at the same pitch, so that leads me to believe it's related to the drive train. Also, if you hammer it, the sound goes away. We had the Durango looked at by the dealership, they can hear it too, but have no clue what's causing it. It's actually loud enough that my wife was able to recorded it on her iPhone as we were driving. Any one else experience this problem, or have any ideas?

Thanks,
Nate

Maybe Kate Winslet is about to jump on the hood and act like she's flying?

I would crawl under it and look at the heat shields. I had the same harmonic sound, the shielding is thin aluminum and I spent several hours bedding corners and pushing it in before I got it where it didn't vibrate and resonate.

I have a '13 R/T with an intermittent whine which I have isolated to the blower motor. It comes and goes but it is there most of the time. Others here have gotten the motor replaced and the sound goes away. My dealer is being stubborn about it. Next time in for an oil change I will make them change it out. BTW, it is most detectable sitting still at lowest blower speed, radio off, etc.

I have a 2012 Citadel with a similar noise. Turned out to be the passenger side, rear seat headrest. A little WD-40 and it was no more.

I had a terrible whine coming from the passenger side of my previous truck. Fixed it myself - got a divorce...
