Default Key Not Detected Message-Car Won't Crank

I have a 2012 Durango with 6 cylinder. About a month ago started having problems with the car not recognizing key fob....changed batteries in fob twice...works for a while but then doesn't recognize the key again. Can wait till "key not recognized" info goes off screen, mash brake again and then it usually cranks....same thing with opening door.

This morning took me almost 5 minutes for the car to recognize the key fob.

As I stated I've changed batteries twice with no improvement.

Any suggestions to what to check now?

Thanks

David

Keep the key fob AWAY FROM YOUR CELL PHONE (the phones RF interference will overpower the key) and do not leave it in the vehicle when you're not in it; the computer will never sleep

Clean all the contacts and both sides of the battery with a new eraser and wipe clean with a soft rag. Do Not touch any of the key fob contacts or either side of the battery with your fingers. Worked for me!

You can always use the manual key that is in the key fob. Although that doesn't fix your problem, it will make sure you are not stranded.

You would need to remove the starter button and manually insert the keyfob. Try to start it that way.
