Why I am not surprised you were charged a diagnostics fee by a CDJF dealership.
Once again, it seems all owners are on their own when it comes to dealing with dealerships and their less than scrupulous methods of taking our money. FCA doesn't seem to want to hold them accountable either. FCA should be backing the owners as much as they back the dealerships.

And yes, I know we can always find another dealership to go to. But, even that excuse is getting old to read or hear. Just saying.

Oh its getting terrible with most dealers and all brands. Dealers make two to three times per hour billing a customer over what manufacturers pays them AND manufacturer never allows the time it really takes.

I've even seen posts on other vehicle forums where car owners claim they've been turned away by dealers for warranty repair because the dealer has a policy they will only perform them for vehicles purchased there. Reason: they claim they LOSE money on warranty repairs.

I have a fishing/hunting buddy with a Ford F350. Just had massive HPFP failure, took out the engine well within warranty period. Dealer is charging him $20,000+ as they claim "bad fuel" caused it. Now this guy
buys his fuel at the same truck stop I do (along with hundreds of commercial truckers every day). Plus his on board fuel sensor at the fuel filter has NEVER caused a CEL. But the dealer AND Ford both claim a CP4 pump can only fail in this manner from bad fuel.

He's even tried an insurance claim but has been denied. Why? Because the insurance company cannot
find a single soul who has complained about getting bad diesel at that Pilot truck stop.

IMO it will get worse unless the govt. steps in. Dealers and auto makers are going to keep pushing the envelope on charging for things they shouldn't be, gouging and denying valid warranty claims farther and farther...

It's funny I just read an article the other day that Americans are un happier now then they were 10 years ago with their American made vehicles. Reason being..they are tired of all the constant recalls. (Go Figure) Who was at the top of the list?? Chrysler/Fiat. I will say this to anyone being hit with bills for any repairs related to recalls. If you don't have twitter..start an account and use it to message DodgeCares directly. I reached out to them and they responded with a direct message from a representative requesting my phone#. Got a call directly from her where I described my issues I was having. She actually requested I bring the truck into the dealership to be looked at and to follow up with her. The truck went in and amazingly enough the R09 parts were in. I followed up with her and explained the stalling issues I had as I described above in thread opening here. She said if the truck has further stalls and they are linked to starter/Ignition issue where it needed replacement, she would make sure it was covered even though I was outside my warranty already. Some of these dealers need their scams aired out and DodgeCares wants to know.

I had the TIPM R09 recall performed a couple of days ago. The new relay was mounted on an exiting hole in the front top brace next to the radiator coolant recovery tank. I didn't like the idea of having the relay mounted so close to where coolant is added, so I moved it to another existing hole closer to the TIPM; I just wish that Dodge would have provided better mounting hardware than that plastic fastener that allows the relay to rattle around.

All in all, I'm very happy with the work my dealer has been doing on the D. In addition to the R09 recall, I mentioned that occasionally the car shuddered when (from my observation) switching from eco to normal mode and under very slight acceleration. They performed software updates for the Power Train Control Module, the Drive Train Control Module and the Steering Angle Sensor Module; the D is running much smoother now.

I still have not been able to get an answer from FCA and Dodge regarding the differences in software for the UConnect RHR radio. The D now has 2.126, but the MYGIG-DISK.com website shows that FCA released updates 2.184 and the latest 2.600 (MyGig posts the FCA releases as a convenience to their customers). I'd like to see what fixes the new software provides before I do the updates.

I finally was notified that the TIPM recall part was in and so I had the 3rd recall on my '12 "D" done. I concur with DDCrew that the repair is somewhat sub-par as what I thought FCA would come up with. The TIPM/fuse/relay box gets a slight cut in the left side to allow the by-pass wire to exit into a fuse holder and then onto the relay itself. As stated, the relay just hangs off the upper rad' brace near the coolant fill/overflow tank. Not the best set-up or location but I put a little bit of foam under the relay to see if that helps to prevent rattling and paint wear.

I relocated my relay all together. Using that plastic clip was cheap and insecure. I used existing hardware near the other relays and it now is secure and looks better. Really can't believe that was the fix dodge came up with. Disappointing.

These are the same engineers that thought it was acceptable to have a non-serviceable FUEL relay inside the TIPM (fancy name for fuse box) when there is a perfectly good relay location (used by DRLs) in the same vicinity of the TIPM. It could have been plug and play replacement of the same standard 12v relay used in most automotive applications, but NOOOOO. That wouldn't have been good enough.

I've had a stalling problem on my '12 Citadel since I bought it new. Here's what it does:

Start car using push button. It starts and within a second or two it stalls. If I try to start it again, all it does is crank until I shut it off. When I restart, it's fine. It never does it twice in a row. After it stalls, if I turn the ignition off and then restart it will without a problem. This happens unpredictably- sometime twice a day, sometimes only once a month.

I always assumed it was related to the fuel pump relay but I had the recall done and the very first time I started it up, it stalled.

It does this with both keys.

I now have removed the push button and am starting it with the key. So far so good for a week, but I'll give it a month to see if it does it again.

If it is ok without the push button, I assume it must be a problem with the ignition switch, as the push button is nothing more than a piece of plastic.

Or could it be a problem with the anti-theft? Does the anti-theft stall the engine if the vehicle is started "illegally"?

I welcome any thoughts.

Thanks for posting the relay relocation info. I finally had some time recently and moved mine to the same spot. Clearly this spot is a much better fit and location for this relay. It was simple to do with only a small box wrench. I feel now its secure vs a loose plastic clip location on the upper rad support.
