Default Blind Spot Monitoring Light

Hi,
I'm having an issue with one of the blind spot monitoring (BSM) indicator lights in the drivers door mirror on my 2011 DD Citadel.
Before I go to the dealer and they tell me they have to replace the whole mirror assembly (out of warranty!), I thought I would consult the wealth of knowledge on here to see if there is another way around the issue.
Is it possible to remove the mirror glass to access the LED behind or is it all part of the same unit, therefore am I able to just change the mirror glass?

Just in case, the mirror is auto dimming, electrical adjust, with BSM.

Thanks.

I can't answer your question directly, but what is the problem you are having? Is the light not lighting? Do you get the chime when the turn signal is engaged and the BSM is activated? I would suspect other sources before I assumed a failed LED.

Hi, thank you for your reply.
The light doesn't illuminate when the turn signal is engaged and the chime does still sound. When the car is first started, and the system goes through its self test, the light still doesn't illuminate. I guess it isn't the bulb that has burnt out, as LED don't tend to do that without good reason, so at the moment I am assuming a lost connection somewhere.
The first obvious place for me to check is behind the mirror as this is where there is constant movement with the adjusting of the mirror position each time my wife or I drive.
Hence I need any tips for removing the mirror glass from the mirror housing.

Before taking the mirror glass off, I'd recommend finding the connector at the base of the mirror and checking for voltage across pins 3 and 4 of the connector for the LED. Anywhere from 1.2 to 12V (depending on where the currently limiting takes place) is probably indicative of a good voltage for the LED.

Hi SHO Rod,
Can you let me know whereabouts I would find that connector?
Is it behind the small access cover on the underside of the mirror, nearest to the car door?

Thanks

on most cars you will have to take the inside door panel off to access the mirror power plug and mounting bolts. it should be in line with there the mirror mounts to the car, just on the inside of the door.

Default Update...

Thanks for the replies above.
Now the indicator light in the passenger mirror has also stopped working, same as the driver's side: light won't illuminate but chime and BSM system still works with no fault message.
Now I suspect a faulty BSM module. Anybody know whereabouts it is and how easy it is to replace?

Thanks.
