Default 2013/2014 Hemi Spark Plug Replacement Cycle Differences

The spark plug replacement cycle for a 2013 5.7L Hemi and older is 30K miles, while for the 2014's and newer is 100K miles. Does anyone know why the difference? Is the difference just a different type of spark plug or are there more differences, like between the ignition systems, or head design, or other?

2014+ got the iraduim plugs, they were developed for the 2011-2013 police cars.. i just put a set in my 2013, pretty easy and good for 100k. The can be found for about $$8.80 each online.

Right after I posted my question I did a quick search and found that a 2013 RAM 1500 owner's manual came with a supplement that one could install plugs good for 100K intervals.

Looks like NGK Iridium are the preferred brand for 100K miles change intervals; make sure to also use anti-seize compound.

I found this on the Charger forum (link: http://www.lxforums.com/board/showth...rk-plug-life):

"Surfing around in another forum, someone asked the age old question "what spark plugs should I get for my 5.7" And the answers came back copper for the most part.

Then a 2014 Charger owner piped up and said his car had 100,000 plugs. Figuring he didn't know what he was talking about, I downloaded a copy of the 2014 Owners Manual. Sure as ****, 100,000 mile intervals.

So I went back and checked my Owners Manual again. 30,000 mile intervals. So, that's what I started to dig. Found some Mopar parts website and looked for the proper spark plugs for a 2014 Charger R/T.

Here's the part number:
SP143877AA

They're NKG Iridium spark plugs, not copper. Searching that part number I found another forum mentioning these were being used in the police package 5.7's. For those that drive a lot, this might be a nice upgrade. The cost per part is much higher over the copper plugs, but not having to monkey around for 3-4 hours every year would be nice"

you can do every single one with this setup. you will need very similar extensions to get it done.

after taking out the coil packs hit the hole with compressed air and then hit each one with penetrating oil like PB Blaster. When u break a plug loose 1/-1/2 turn wait 1 minute the pb blaster will seep into the spark plug seat and then down the treads. They will all come out and go in by hand. I wish i had a piece of rubber hose to insert them with as my spark plug sockets rubber insert that holds the plugs in the socket keep falling out.
