My parents just got a 2016 Durango RT. They have the big 8.4 inch screen with all the bells and whistles. Its definitely a bad *** car.


My question to you all is every time we preset the heat the night before so when they remote start it the next morning the car is warmed up and defrosts the windows. It seems like we are doing something wrong and half the time the heat doesn't work until they get in the car and start it and puts it all on manually. I noticed after we had the settings to our liking and we turn the car off a message pops up saying "Climate Off". Im wondering if there is a setting I cant find that is turning off climate control and doesn't come back on until they start the car. I feel like its got to be something stupid im doing and its frustrating that I cant figure it out. I guess im getting too old for all this technology myself at this point hah.


Any help would be great.

I'm still waiting for the "flash" to come out for my 2013 to have this option working properly....then again, I've been waiting for many things to come from Chrysler that will fix many things wrong.

Remote Start Comfort System needs to be activated in the EVIC for starters (it isn't just based on what settings you had when you shut if off).

Also, the heated wheel, seats, defroster will not activate unless the outside temp is below 40 degrees.

The ventilated driver seat, and AC will not activate unless the outside temperature is above 65 or 70.

 

I have a 13 Citadel Hemi, the Ventilated seats are always on when I hit the remote start. It's a nice feature to have in the Florida heat.

That makes sense for the ventilated seats not come on if it's below 70 degrees. I'll have to wait till January to see if the hated seats come on using the remote start.

 

so if its in the in-between temperatures of 40 - 70 degrees what will it do?


if the auto comfort setting is turned off will remote start just go with the settings you had when you shut the car off the night before?


The issue we are having right now is we turn the heat settings on and defrosters so in the morning the windows are defrosted. For some reason its not working until we get in the car and start it then the heat will kick on.


The temperature is in the 50s right now in the morning.

 

If the temp is between the activation temps, then remote start will just warm up the engine and waste fuel
