Default Blue Smoke Revist - Please comment.

Okay I have a 2015 R/T. I wasn't aware of the blue smoke issue until I was parked on my Mom's inclined driveway. Then I looked it up. Seems like this has been happening on Hemi's for a long time. Clearly an issue, and something that needs to be addressed.

So I go to my Dodge Service center and hand them the TSB regarding Blue Smoke. This is the one that was referenced in a separate post:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0900213.pdf

Service said that they couldn't replicate the issue so they performed no service. They did order the correct dip stick per this TSB:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0901015.pdf.

So I want to ask everyone here:
- Is there any new info you can provide on any new fixes released by Dodge, or maybe performed by yourself to alleviate this issue.
- I read somewhere that 2015 versions of the Hemi resolved Blue Smoke by redesigning the PVC value to vent better (though I have seen Blue Smoke). Anyone else agree? If you look at the TSB it does not include 2015.
- I read somewhere people have added Catch Cans to collect oil/water before it gets reintroduced back into the combustion chamber. If so then:
- Did you add this yourself? If so which product did you choose and
why?
- Would Dodge be willing to add one as part of warranty/TSB resolution?

Please add anything you feel is appropriate. I realize this may be a dead horse to most, though it's new to me. I have read as much as I can on different forums - though it seems like nothing is resolved. Lot's of suggestions. I would just like to give this one more shot before I make a decision on next steps.

Thanks my friends.

A catch can is very beneficial on a Hemi. Google catch can and you see several articles about its benefits and how it works: oilcatchcan.com

Most of those that I read in this forum installed Billet Technology catch cans. Hummm, I just tried to access the Billet Technologies website and got that the government seized their domain. They are now billettechnology.net (used to be billettechnology.com).

Very doubtful that FCA will cover the cost of the catch can and/or its installation. Billet typically has an annual sale and I think it is around this time or close to it. Log on to their website and put yourself on their mailing list. They usually have like a 3-5 days sale where the 1st day you get the largest discounts, which diminish with each day afterwards.

So I presume you have one?

Yeah I saw the government takeover warning. Hmmmmmm - Billet = Terrorist?

Yeah I agree Catch Can can not hurt, but only help. I'm going to try to get my dealer to reimburse me for cost + free install

There was some chatter on the interwebs that Billet was going to OEM a part and Dodge Service was going to authorize. I even got a part number - though when you check Dodge Parts it doesn't come up. Now this was back in 2011/2012.

I was hoping there would be some new info regarding this issue. Seems like it's wide spread. Now some would say - nahhhh this is normal. Hell in some ways I do not care. I have life time warranty - I'll have Dodge replace my whole engine if it comes down to it - or they can invest $200-$300 to try to minimize upfront.

Yes I did install a catch can. Twice a year, when I change oil, I also empty the catch can. Typically it is about 3/4 full of an oily mixture. The issue with smoke after parking on an incline has been extensively discussed in this forum. Some engines have had the oil pans replaced with a new design one to minimize the smoke. As a matter of fact, the TSB you attached is about the oil pan. The TSB also doesn't say that the service technician has to replicate the issue. It states that "If the customer describes the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure". Being that you have a 2015, you may want to ask the service dept whether the engine on your D has the new P/N oil pan.
