Almost seems like it needs to be somehow tightened up. Anyone have a fix for this issue. Thx.

BTW... has anyone ever removed the fuel door? It feels like there is a lever inside the door on the left that might release it. I might be able to make an adjustment if i can remove it.
I posted something to this site about a year ago, I had this issue happen last year. I believe it was somewhat cold. Hasn't happened since. Is it a reoccurring problem?? It would definitely suck if it happened in the middle of no where and you need fuel.

DodgeCares, what is a STAR case, S1708000003? I'm taking my Durango into dealer soon for other reasons and wouldn't mind they look into this - especially if there is documentation on issue/fix.

Hi oharag,

As my colleague stated above a STAR case is created when our corporate engineers have been involved with diagnosing a customer's vehicle, this case can then serve as guidelines for other dealerships when diagnosing a similar issue. STAR cases do not apply to all vehicles, if you would like to send us a PM with your VIN I'd be happy to check if this case applies to your vehicle.

I have a 2014 Durango, just out of warranty, and had this same thing start happening. Dealership wants to charge me over $600, for the "KIT" and will have to repaint the door. What other options are available? I feel if this is a common occurrence and has a STAR, this should be on a recall.

BTW

My door was fixed after a $100 deductible. I have extended warranty + Max Care for life. I will keep you posted if the fuel door starts failing again. It usually seems to be an issue during cold weather. Fuel door works like a charm now.

We had our 2015 fuel door assembly replaced under warranty. Same problem, it wouldn't open.
