Update: just got my DD back. They replaced the transmission and performed a TCM adaptation. In the 20 minutes or so I drove it around on my way home, everything feels good. The service advisor said it's not the first one, and he thinks it's happening to more than just a few. Total time at the dealer: 26 days.
Will advise long term how this holds up. |
My 2016 Durango has this problem. I took it to the dealer and they kept it for two weeks! No rental, nothing!
It worked for fine about a week when I finally got it back but the clunk in the down shift came back. I’m looking to get a new car because of it. |

I've been monitoring a few other forum users across multiple forums with the same problem. Some are getting new valve bodies, some are getting new transmissions. So far no lasting results. BTW - I'm in California. |
Mine goes back to the dealer again this Monday. See what happens when I get it back.

I bought a brand new 2019 R/T on Tuesday. Truck had 24 miles when I pulled out of the lot and I noticed this problem when I came to the first red light after leaving the dealer. It did it several times periodically throughout the first day of ownership and some on the second day. I didn't really notice it yesterday. But after reading this thread, looks like it's a waste of time going back and forth to the dealer to fix it. Been there, done that. This is why I lease these trucks.

When I was at the dealer last for this same issue there was a guy in the service department for the same problem who bought his car just the day before. His also was a 2019. I hope Dodge fixes this problem quick because I really want a new 2021 Durango but if this problem continues I will go back to a Tahoe. |
