Default 2015 RT exhast noise question

Under hard acceleration, my 2015 RT awd will make a bit of a "brrrraaap" noise when shifting up at high RPMs. (ie if you hammer it when on a freeway ramp) In my mind it seems like a side effect of the engine revs slowing down to match the next gear.

I'm not worried, however my wife is convinced that I am hurting the truck (it will also do it during passing slower traffic on a two lane road). My take, it's built to handle it. But does anyone else know what that noise actually is?

Ok, in doing a little web searching I found it discussed on another board with this video (not mine) which is exactly the noise I'm talking about.

The thread on the other board never did come up with a definitive explanation - would be really cool if the Dodge Cares people could shed some light on it.

Hi wi-steve,

Unfortunately I don't have a technical background and haven't dealt with any other customers who experienced your concern. However, if you do end up visiting a dealership I would recommend showing them that video and offering to do a test drive with a technician. This often leads to a quicker diagnosis. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Not sure if it's the same thing or not, but it's similar to the sound my GTI makes when shifting. It's the ECU retarding the timing to quickly slow the engine for the next gear. The GTI is fairly extreme as the dual clutch transmission shifts very fast. If you want an example, search for 'DSG farts' as it sounds a bit like that...

Google "Hemi Fart" it is quite normal, no worries!

Pretty normal, supposed to mimic the drop-throttle "crackle" or rasp of hi-po sporty cars...very intentional.
