Jammed seat belt buckle

Jammed seat belt buckle
I have a 2015 Durango R/T - great ride, no complaints. Well not until today. I have/had a doggie harness that buckles Fido into the rear seat belt. Worked great once. Second use now has it jammed in the buckle. The latch will not release the harness. Good news is that the dog was released from the harness, but the buckle still remains. Does anyone know how to release a stuck seat belt buckle? Any tips or inside information to get it out?

I jumped in and took the buckle off the seat. I had all the tools needed to remove the receiver from the car. I opened the receiver and was able to pop the buckle out. Turns out the buckle was thinner than the Mopar buckle that is installed on the seat. Since it was thinner, it did not activate the spring release mechanism inside the receiver and became stuck. As with other seat belt information on the web, be careful when taking the out shell off the receiver. It will come apart, and not break if you are gentle in pulling it apart.
