Default Transmission Overheat

Have a 2016 Citadel Hemi with 21,000 km. Towed my 3500lb trailer for first time and 1.5 hours into it transmission suddenly overheated and shut the truck down. Towed to dealer and they said it was a software issue that they had to up date. Worked fine after that. Only had to tow for another hour temperature hovered around 120 Celsius.

On way home over heated again after 1.5 hours.... temperature at 138 Celsius. this time I just slowed down to 60km/h and it cooled down to 127-130 managed to limp it home. I'm told it was a factory installed tow package. I put in the brake controller and found the wire pre installed under the dash so I figure it was factory. On way to dealership tomorrow any suggestions. Cant even check trans oil on it to smell if burnt.

Default trans temp

Huh. I recently made a point of watching my trans temp, first in regular driving then while towing a 4000 lb pop up camper (it's a beast). It stayed right at 194f or 195 (90c) regardless of the load.

For the rest of us Americans I'll save you the conversion, 138c is 280f.
