Default 2013 Durango Citadel Power Liftgate Problems

Tonight when I tried to open the power liftgate via the keyfob I heard a loud pop but the liftgate did not open. When I tried to open the liftgate via the handle the door would not open. It's as if the locking mechanism is broken and the liftgate can not be opened by the handle, keyfob or the button inside the vehicle.

Sounds like something broke. You will have to get it open and start troubleshooting.

Ok, I got the tailgate open today. Looks as if the bolt holding the powerlift broke. I will either need just the bolt or possibly a new powerlift. Anyone have a good you tube video link showing how to remove/replace the power lift by chance?

Yes, I'm fully capable of pulling up youtube and searching. I've done so but nothing is hitting up on the Gen 3 Durango showing someone replacing the power liftgate. Not sure if I'm using the wrong search words. If you have one or find one that you don't mind sharing I would appreciate it.

Hello tfrench72,

If you decide you'd like to get this looked at by the dealer, let me know. I am available via direct message and would be happy to help with that process.

Default Another liftgate issue....

I too am having a somewhat similar problem. When I close the liftgate it will cycle the actuator but wont latch closed. I saw in a previous post that there was a tsb for reprogramming/reflashing the power control module but it wss for 2010 to 2012 model Durango. Mine is a 2014 RT. Took it to a dealer who insisted it's not because it needs reflashed but instead needs a new latch. So I ordered one and installed it. (3 bolts and an electrical plug in)still wouldnt work. Took it to the dealership again. They claimed the new latch is faulty as well? Then they attempted to put their own (verified as working via bench test) latch in and it didnt work either!? I've suggested trying the reflash several times and have been rebutted each time! They are now trying to say it's my power liftgate struts that are keeping it from working? But, in my opinion, those would not keep the latch from working, especially if I closed it manually? I just spent $1600 on getting 2 lines to the ac replaced and really dont have the money to keep throwing parts at this issue until they get it figured out! Does anyone know of a current tsb for the 2014 durangos with this issue or any other suggestions? (Just lubing the latch didnt work either, nor did disconnecting/reconnecting the battery to reset it....)help!!??
