So my water pump went out and I think I may have blown a head gasket driving it to my garage. What I’m looking to do is have the heads done, new cam and tune. New injectors if needed as well as whatever else is needed with that. I rebuilt a few LT1’s in my past so I have somewhat of an idea what I’m doing and I have a few mechanic buddies to help. My questions are as followed... what cam options are even available for the 14 5.7? I’ve read the 6.4 SRT cam works. I’ve also read that the cylinder deactivation system/lifters have to be replaced when an aftermarket cam is installed. I guess I’m just looking for some suggestions on how to do the job and come out with the best results. I have around 3-5k to spend, I’m looking for maybe 475hp from the engine or more. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks everyone. Also it has 108k miles on it, 80k of it was highway miles.
