Hard shift from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 1st Durango 2019 GT
Hi,
I'm new to this forum, and wanted to know if anyone is having this issue. I just recently bought my 2019 Durango GT, and during the first week driving I started to noticed that there was an issues with 1st to 2nd. When I was coming to a stop, the car would jerk when it down shifted from 2nd to 1st. Then when I would start accelerating, it would shift rough from 1st to 2nd. I took to it to the dealer and they did a update to the software, but it's still doing it. The dealer said I need to keep driving because the needs to get used my driving (the biggest BS ever). Is this happening to anyone else?

The dealer is not incorrect. The transmissions in newer vehicles are adaptive. They will learn your driving style over time. You can try disconnecting the battery to reset everything back to factory. Otherwise, it is probably normal as the dealer indicates. Did you make them take a test drive with you to demonstrate the issue?
I did, and the service advisor felt it too. It was in the dealer for. 4 days and I got a call from the service manager saying everything was fixed. When I test drove it again, it was still doing it, but the service manager said that's normal and that vehicle needs to adopt. The truck has a 1000k on it now and nothing has changed.
Just got my Durango GT AWD 2019 (2020 commercial year in my country Chile) and I had the same issue downshifting from 2nd to 1st. Is more noticeable when I’m reducing speed slowly.
After the first 300 kms took it to dealership, they performed a testdrive with a scanner plugged in and told me that the trans is working fine, with all the parameters in “normal range”, they said that the jolting is because of the trans tends to disconnect the shift to maximize the fuel economy (?) and needs to adapt and learn my driving habits, so they ask me to drive more kms and use all the modes (eco, sport, normal). I actually drived it conservatively, I haven’t even tried the sport mode, so I’ll give it another chance!
