Hi I’m new to the forum and was wondering if some with similar year durango could lend a hand. My issue is the truck was in front crash recently ( front passenger) and theres a group of 4 wires cut located behind and under passenger side headlight . 2 black , 1 orange/red & 1 white/violet. I’ll attach pictures perhaps someone could locate what they’re for
Seeing how those are punched through the panel and not in any sort of loom, plus the one black wire already has some tape wrapped around it inside the engine compartment, I'm pretty sure those are not part of a factory wiring harness. I'd be inclined to think they were probably installed as part of an aftermarket alarm system. Maybe they were for an aftermarket siren, parking light flash, and horn chirp at one time? Also, it appears some oxidation is already forming on the cut orange or pink wire where the insulation is stripped. If it were cut due to the front end damage, I would expect more of a sharp edge and would not expect the insulation to be stripped. Plus, the oxidation suggests that isn't something that happened very recently. Copper oxidizes rather quickly when exposed to the elements, but I'm guessing you maybe haven't been driving this much after the damage occurred.
Thanks for the fast response Rob. And yes the wires are coming out of the main wiring harness near the front right passenger wheel. I will be posting pictures shortly
