Hello, I have read in the owner's manual that the Durango without the factory tow package has a 3500lb limit. the dealer says 5000, but our door jam says 6200, our Durango did not have the factory hitch installed when we bought it used. so we are gonna have one installed at our local dodge dealer. when looking at the window sticker we still have from the previous owner that had it in the glove box. on the features it says: Rear Load Leveling Suspension, Engine Oil Cooler, Full-Size Spare, Standard Duty Engine cooling, GVW 6500lb, 160amp alternator, sport suspension, trailer sway damping, 3.06 rear axle ratio, 215mm rear axel. our Durango has some of the stuff in the factory tow package.
I'm not sure what to trust. were planning on towing a 5000lb trailer (wet) in the next month. any help is appreciated.

 

Normally if it does not have the factory tow package the tow limit is 3500 lbs .
