Durango 2013 R/t alternator fried!
Hi guys
my 2013 durango suddenly had the red battery light on , and as described by other forum users , all alarms and modules started acting up one after the other , and finally it had stopped right as i reached home.
next day i was able to turn it on and drove to the workshop 1 km from my place. by the time i got there , the alternator was smoking !!!
the mechanic had the alternator replaced , but as he checked the car , he told me that the positive terminal of the alternator connector which connects to the ecu does not have any voltage on it.
he is suggesting the the ECU is fried.
i called the dealership and they are asking me to bring it in for checkup in order to make sure what exactly are the damages , the guy on the phone told me that one of the things that might be the problem are damaged/melted wiring.
would anyone help by sharing the wiring diagram, which shows the connection between the ecu and the alternator
appreciate your help

there is an alternator recall....not sure if it goes back to our model year. if fca doesn't have your info the vehicle is orphaned and they can't send recall letters. call the dealer with your vin and see if the recalls applies to your vehicle. if yes,,,free alternator (they will reinburse you) and if the ecm is fried from the alternator they will replace that.

i have check on mopar website https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehic...ls/search.html , and i didn't find any recalls for my alternator.
i wonder if the dealership can lookup a different database than that, but i will surely give it a try.
since they will charge money for getting the car checked , i though of checking the harness myself for any short circuits before jumping into conclusions and having to look for an ecu.
thanks
I know this is an old thread; however, our company specializes in this exact repair, with a 99% success rate for repair. The link for this vehicle is:
https://www.yps-usa.com/products/4753023041621
The repair title may be for a different Year/Make/Model; however, it is the same repair as long as the ECU is the same style. These units are damaged by the alternator failing and the alternator would need to be replaced, the wiring to the alternator checked, and then move forward with the repair. If the alternator is not replaced prior to installing a new ECU or repaired ECU, damage will occur again.
If anyone has any questions for us about this repair or misfire repairs, you can reach us here:

If the alternator is failing, it may still charge but damage the control chip on the ECU causing battery lights to populate and other random codes such as DSOP, decreased MPG, and so forth. The alternator is definitely recommend to be tested prior to having the ECU repaired if anyone else is having these issues
